At Carolina Center for Comprehensive Dentistry we know the concern you have about restoring your perfect smile. When that restoration requires solutions for missing teeth, we can help. A missing tooth affects your smile and your confidence. What’s more, a missing tooth can affect your speech, how and what you eat, and even the shape of your face. As leaders in restorative dentistry, we will design an implant solution specifically for you.
What is an implant?
A dental implant is essentially an artificial tooth root that we surgically implant into the jawbone. Implants are used to replace a single missing tooth or can act as a base for a crown, a fixed bridge, or a full set of dentures. Implants are very durable and with proper care can last a lifetime.
Who is a good candidate for a dental implant?
If you have missing teeth, healthy gums, and enough bone in your jaw to hold the implant, you are a good candidate for an implant. Our team will give you a full examination and create a customized implant plan to restore your beautiful smile.
How do implants work?
Just like teeth, implants are not made to come out. They are not the same as natural teeth but they function and feel like natural teeth. If you have worn removable dentures or other appliances, the implant will feel much more secure, which means more reason to smile!
Implants are made from an extremely biocompatible material, usually titanium. The implant is surgically implanted into the jawbone, and the bone cells attach themselves to the implant. After healing, a post is secured to the implant and a crown, bridge, or full set of dentures can be placed on top of the post.
With dental implants you need to put extra focus on excellent oral hygiene. Our experienced staff is here to help you with questions, and support you with proper care of your implants.
